Our sterile compounding hood was just recertified—and the details you don't see still matter.
Great news from MID!
Our sterile compounding hood was just recertified, confirming that it is functioning properly and that our sterile compounding procedures are being performed correctly.
For a quick refresher, every infusion at Michigan Immune Defense is prepared inside an ISO Grade 5 compounding aseptic isolator—a highly controlled environment designed to protect sterile products while your infusion is being prepared.
And our setup is intentionally a little extra.
We've chosen equipment and processes that provide more protection and control than we technically need for the type of compounding we perform. Our system includes separate controlled areas that allow supplies to be disinfected and transferred before entering the primary sterile compounding area.
During our recent recertification, we were especially proud to hear that the level of care we're taking goes beyond what the certifier commonly sees.
Most clients will never see this part of their care.
But that's exactly why we think it's worth talking about.
What's in your IV matters. How it's prepared matters too.
Key Takeaways:

FULL ARTICLE:
Hey everyone, great news. We just had our sterile compounding hood recertified, and not only did everything pass, but we were told that we're doing everything exactly the way we should, and in many ways even going above and beyond.
So, I thought this was a good time for a quick reminder of why this matters. When you get an IV, it's easy to focus on what's inside the bag, but how it's prepared matters, too. And at Michigan Immune Defense, we prepare our infusions in an ISO grade 5 compounding aseptic isolator.
Basically, it's a highly controlled environment designed to protect the sterile products we're working with while your infusion is being prepared. And ours is even a little extra, provides more protection and control, and we chose that intentionally. Our system has separate controlled areas that allow us to disinfect and introduce supplies into the transfer chamber before it even comes into the sterile compounding area.
And there's a very specific process that we follow for cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing every infusion. And our recertification uh confirmed that the hood is functioning properly, and we're following those procedures correctly.
So, that's probably what I was most proud of was being told that our level of care goes above and beyond what we commonly see, and that's really important to me. Because you'll probably never see most of this when you come in for an infusion, and that's kind of the point. A lot of what determines quality happens before you ever sit down in the chair. What's inside your IV matters, and how it's prepared matters, too. And at MID, there's an opportunity to go above and beyond, and that's what we'll always do. Because the details you don't see still matter.
