NAD+ the M.I.D. Way!

It's not about the biggest dose. It's about the right approach.

NAD+ has quickly become one of the most talked-about therapies in longevity medicine, often referred to as the "anti-aging molecule." But what does that actually mean? This week, we're challenging some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding NAD+ and explaining why our approach focuses on supporting cellular function through individualized care—not simply chasing higher doses.

Key Takeaways:

  • NAD+ is essential for cellular energy production and DNA repair.

  • Natural NAD+ levels decline with age, which can affect how efficiently our cell’s function.

  • NAD+ supports healthy aging by helping cells perform normal biological processes—it is not a "magic" anti-aging treatment.

  • More NAD+ isn't always better; the right dose depends on the individual.

  • At Michigan Immune Defense, we often build NAD+ into our Essentials Infusion, creating a strong foundation before progressing to higher doses when appropriate.

  • Healthy aging is built through consistent support of your cells over time—not one giant infusion.

Can I challenge the way people think about NAD for a minute? You've probably heard NAD called the anti-aging molecule. And honestly, I think that name has done a little more harm than good. Not because NAD isn't important, cuz it absolutely is, but because it makes people think it's some magic anti-aging infusion that's going to make you look younger overnight. And that's just not how it works.

So, here's how I think about it. Every single cell in your body needs NAD. It's essential for producing cellular energy, supporting DNA repair, and helping cells function the way they were designed to. As we get older, our natural NAD levels decline. So, when that happens, our cells don't produce energy as efficiently, and some of our normal repair processes inside the cell become less efficient, too. That is why NAD has become associated with healthy aging. Not because it reverses aging, but because it helps support the normal processes that keep our cells functioning well over time.

So now here's where I think we need to change the conversation. Most people immediately ask me, "How much NAD should I get? 500 milligram, 750, up to a,000 milligram." The assumption in the world has been that more must be better. And I don't think that's the right way to think about it. So, at Michigan Immune Defense, one of my favorite ways to use NAD is by adding incremental doses to our Essential Infusion. Our Essential Infusion already provides hydration, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your cells need to function. NAD builds on that foundation.

Can we administer higher doses? Absolutely. And when it's appropriate, we do. But we don't currently have strong evidence showing that everyone should automatically start with a massive dose. So, I'd rather start with a solid foundation and see how your body responds and build your plan from there.

Because health isn't built from one giant infusion. It's built from small, consistent investments in your cells over time.

Detox, replenish, prevent. Take care of yourselves and they'll take care of you.
